Copying Files

Transferring Files

There are several ways to copy files to and from the XBRL Cloud servers. Here's what you need to know:

  Secure Copy Protocol

The Secure Copy Protocol (SCP) is a protocol for securely transfering files between machines. It is typically a protocol supported by Unix machines.

Operating System Program Description
Unix scp A command-line based program very similar to rcp.
Windows We recommend that you download WinSCP WinSCP operates like FTP or other clients: it is a GUI-based system that allows you to copy files between machines

  Credentials

When you recieved your account, you were presented with a user name, such as 'guest', and a corresponding subdomain, such as 'guest.xbrlcloud.com'. When you log into scp You will need the following:

User Name
<your user name>, such as 'guest'
Password
<the password you were provided>

These are the same credentials you use everywhere else in the system!
